J. Robert Oppenheimer
J. Robert Oppenheimer is often known as the father of the atomic bomb because of the work he did on the Manhattan Project during WWII. He was a professor of physics at the University of California Berkley which was actually working in atomic energy before WWII but when the war started Oppenheimer was appointed director of the Manhattan project.

Albert Einstein
Albert Einstein was a big part of the Manhattan Project. His move from Germany to the United States a month before Hitler came into power had one of the biggest impacts on the war a scientist could make. Einstein's theory of relativity served as the basis for the atomic bomb. However after Einstein learned of the bombing of Japan he sided with Oppenheimer to disband the project to create the hydrogen bomb.

Otto Hahn
Otto Hahn was a German scientist during WWII that worked on the project to split atoms to create nuclear energy. Hahn though hated Hitler and the Nazi's. After the war he said in an interview that if his work would have led to Hitler gaining control of an atomic bomb that he would have killed himself.
